The 7 chakras is a reference to the 7 energy centers in our body. The archaic Sanskrit word which means ‘wheel’ is the literal translation of ‘chakra’. Situated within the subtle body of humans, these are the energy vortices where reception and transmission of energies takes place.

The 7 chakras are linked to the major nerves of the human spinal cord and is a reflection of not only the physical, but it also includes the psychological and spiritual wellbeing of a person.

The Base of the 7 Chakras, is located at the last bone in the spinal cord, in the genital and anus area and relates to your instincts, survival and identity. This chakra is known as the Muladhar chakra.

The behavior in the chakras impact:The shape of the body; Chronic physical ailments; Glandular processes; Spiritual processes.

Have you noticed the powerful sensation within while watching a close friend’s marriage, or while hearing your country’s national hymn, watching your country win an olympic medal? This is the working of your group force, your group identity and comes from the Base or Root Chakra which is known as the Muladhar Chakra.

Having Chakras that are balanced is considered a utopian ideal, and while some may not strive for this due to lack of confidence, many will attempt to keep their Chakras in balance because of the beneficial effects it imparts. Chakras that are balanced can do everything from causing continued happiness to allowing the body to heal itself.

Another of the 7 chakra located in the sacrum above the Muladhar chakra, is the Swadhisthana Chakra. Illustrated by an orange lotus with 6 flowers, it physically represents the reproductive system while mentally stands for alliances, our emotional needs and our relationships, our ability to make choices and pleasure of man. This chakra separates when someone gets to the age of seven.

Anybody can go through a simple procedure of exercise to understand which chakras are causing trouble. A partner is needed to perform it. One has to stand straight, with his dominant hand stretched out on one side. He has to place his other hand on the different chakras one by one. This has to be done with concentration. Now the partner has to push down his dominant hand. This has to be done in two full rounds for all the seven chakras. Pushing down the dominant hand of the individual by his partner will be hard for strong chakras while easy for chakras that are closed.

Another of the 7 chakra is what we call the Manipura Chakra represented by a yellow colored lotus with 10 flowers. After the group power with the previous two chakras, the Manipura Chakra is all about power of self.

To open the chakras you need to first imagine light glowing at each chakra and the beginning of this is done at the root chakra or the base. The color of this light is red due to this chakra color being red. One way to open the chakras is by making use of binaural beats whose effect is immediately seen. This method also saves you from years of intense meditation training for opening of the chakras. Isochronic tones and monaural beats are some other ways to open the chakras.

Becoming distinct since the time of puberty, the Manipura Chakra is illustrated by a yellow rose with ten flowers. Since it is located near the pancreas, physically it is concerned with digestion and metabolism issues of man but otherwise, the key issues are those of development of one’s personality and individuality with self esteem and self respect being some of the important components of the same.

Meditation is another way to achieve chakra opening. Anyone can do chakra meditation. Generally our three chakras located at the bottom of the spine are already open. Those who have all chakras opened are the spiritual master. The fourth chakra is closed for many people and this is the heart chakra. If heart chakra is opened it gives out love and compassion towards others. Meditation is needed for opening of the higher chakras or energy centers.

The twelve petalled green lotus flower illustrates the Anahata Chakra which is physically related to the heart and the immune system of man. It is called the fundamental powerhouse of the human energy system.

The Anahata is where the body meets the spirit and earth meets heaven. The base to complex feelings towards spirituality it is all about genuine love, confidence, desire, insight and the like. This is unsurprisingly situated near the heart and thus is physically related to it and to our immune system.

The Vishuddha chakra represents willpower. It is illustrated as a turquoise lotus with 16 flowers, being located adjacent to the thyroid gland of the throat and represents development, self expression, conversation and becoming mature.

Various colors are essential to our wellbeing of our lives, because each chakra relates to a particular color. It is helpful to bring the right colors that relate to the chakras that suffer from imbalance into your life. Color therapy is a most productive means of treating chakra imbalance.

Next is the white or indigo lotus with only two flowers is the Ajna Chakra or the wisdom chakra of man. Located in the region inbetween the eyebrows, it is physically linked to the pineal gland which controls sleeping and waking up. One of the most crucial chakras it represents our progression on the path of opening up of one’s inner conscious and subconscious realms of the psychological forces. It is all about development of the inner self, and the subconscious, the disconnection of subjective perception for distinguishing between illusion and truth.

The final of the 7 Chakra is the Sahasrara Chakra of absolute sentience. A vivid violet lotus with a thousand petals, it is situated at the top of our heads and represents the ultimate metaphysical journey of humans in realizing the ultimate truth.

It is as a result of the Sahasrara chakra that an individual gains knowledge about the ultimate and final universal truth and realizes the immortality and omnipotence of his soul enjoying divine joy and lasting peace.

Either with imbalance of the chakras or blocked energies the force gets slowed down. A constant balance should be maintained between health and the chakras for promotion of sense of well being.

The Base of the 7 Chakras, is located at the last bone in the spinal cord, adjacent to the genitals and the anus and relates to your instincts, our basic identity and survival. This chakra is known as the Muladhar chakra.

Balancing of heart chakra can achieved with the aid of rhythm which helps in attaining accord. The pulses of our heart may vary like they may augment in speed or slow down or often entrain with the pulses of the drum rhythm till the time perfect harmonization is achieved. Belly dancing, a hula hoop, pelvic thrusts are some other things that can be attempted to achieve balance of the chakras. Next of the seven chakra located in the sacrum just above Muladhar, is the Swadhisthana Chakra. Illustrated by an orange lotus with 6 flowers, it physically represents reproduction while mentally represents alliances, relationships, basic emotional needs, choice making ability and pleasure of man. This chakra becomes distinct when a child reaches seven.

Another of the seven chakra is the Manipura Chakra symbolized by a yellow colored lotus with 10 petals. Following the power of the group with the previous two chakras, the Manipura Chakra relates to power of self.

The Manipura chakra stands for the personal domination of the person, the formation of individuality and the meaning of ‘self’, as against the external universe. Thus, becoming distinct from when a child reaches puberty, it is all about self respect, self esteem, aspiration, personality, strength of character, etc.

After the completion of the self trilogy, we come to the place where the physical self meets the soul. The center to the seven chakras, the Anahata Chakra is known as the center power house of man and represents complex feelings towards spirituality.

Now, place your other hand one by one on the different chakras concentrating on them. Ask a friend to try pushing down your dominant hand and do this for two full rounds for all the seven chakras. Pushing down your hand will sometimes be easy and sometimes difficult. Remember that you need to open chakras for which your hand was easily pushed down.

The topmost of the seven chakras which rests at the crown of your head is the Sahasrara Chakra. An image of a vivid violet lotus with a thousand petals it represents man’s final spiritual journey towards the release of karma and comprehending our true potential.

Reiki techniques on the other hand are synonymous to palm healing. If any of the Reiki chakras are blocked and the flow of energy is not balanced, a Reiki master performs Reiki techniques through his palms on the diseased or injured person so as to open or balance the chakras. The master receives infinite positive energy from the cosmos and he acts as a conduit to the energy directing and channelizing it to the diseased body for healing purposes.

A chakra is an alignment point of the body and it can receive and relay the life force energy. The word Chakra comes from the Sanskrit, it describes the continual spinning of a wheel or the aural energy sphere within the body of mankind.

Traditional Hindu writings have often said that there are nearly 90,000 points of Chakra throughout every human body, but there are truly only seven extrmely important points of Chakra. These seven vital points of Chakra can be found from the bottom of the spinal cord all the way up to the top of the head.

These seven main chakra points are known as the root or base chakra, the sacral chakra, the solar plexus chakra, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra. These seven main chakras receive and transmit energy from the universe, as well as from other people. These influence all of the activities of the individuals, spiritual, emotional and physical.

Whether you chose to take on a point of view that comes from the Hindus mystical perception of the external and internal experience of an individual, the modern psychology of explanation of the consciousness and thought patterns or Chinese medicine, you will find a common thread within them all. This point is that the chakras are distinct when it comes to their explanations or definitions.

This happens specifically because each one of the major chakra glands works with a specific endocrine gland within our bodies. If there is an imbalance in the function of a chakra this will effect our physical and emotional state of well being. It will also create a disturbance in the endocrine gland that is associated with that specific chakra.

This is due to the result of the association of these seven major chakras with the endocrine system of our body. If there is any imbalance in the system with the functioning of chakras, it affects the emotional and physical processes and shows up in the normal system as certain disorders or malfunctioning of certain organs associated with the corresponding endocrine gland.

You can safely say any major ailments or illnesses that your body may be suffering with can be related to an unbalanced chakra. It is important to maintain the proper chakra balance in order to keep your body functioning properly. Even though you may not see any physical attributes of an illness or an imbalance, you may see a difference in your emotions.

The major cause of chakra imbalance is the emotional burden that we carry. Whether it is trauma, or whether it is grief, many individuals habitually bury their long term emotions and frightening thoughts deep inside their subconscious minds which further releases toxins disrupting cellular level functions.

It is because of this that the need to resolve them is critical to attain proper chakra balance and to heal our physical self in the process.

It is important that you understand that you can control your Chakras and also that you can directly influence each and everyone of your Chakras as well as their functions. You can do this by using an array of techniques such as Reiki healing, aromatherapy, color therapy, chakra balancing with the aid of a pendulum, crystals or gemstones.

Some people would rather attend a yoga class to help maintain the balance of their chakras through physical exercises and controlled breathing.

Other methods include healing through utilization of meditation classes, for a specific period of time, through visualization with the aid of CD or audio tapes for encouraging relaxation techniques and reducing stress in the natural healing process.

Although we cannot see or feel our chakras, they work alone to help sustain our bodies in several ways.

Part of having a balanced chakras is feeding the human body properly. There are an array of foods that will help to maintain each specific major chakra.

The root chakra works best with foods rich in protein, spices and root type vegetables. For the sacral chakra, nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, sweet fruits and seeds such as caraway and sesame are the best which enriches creativity. Breads, cereals, pasta, yogurt, dairy products and spicy mints nourish our stomach or solar plexus chakra enriching our sense of self esteem and self confidence.

Go with green leafy veggies for your heart chakra and plenty of liquids for your throat chakra. You can go with fruit juices and tangy fruits as well.

The brow or third eye chakra which enhances our strength of third eye sight and an in-depth sense of our own psychical gifts is nourished by consuming fruits such as grapes, blueberries, or grape juice and wine.
