Meditation is widely known as a potent method of focusing the mind and healing the body, as well as attaining self-realization. There are many different ways to mediate but one of the most powerful of these is Chakra meditation.

Understanding Chakra Meditation

Chakra Meditation is the art of balancing and energizing all the seven energy centers in the body, called Chakras, in order to align the flow of energy through them. Here?s a brief description of these seven energy centers, or the Chakras.

*Root Chakra, also famous as the Base Chakra, is located at the bottom of human spine. It is associated to the ?Earth' constituent, which governs our general health, safety, and richness in life.

*The Sacral Chakra, located at the very center of the abdomen ? this Chakra represents the element "Water" and is responsible for emotional and sexual components of the personality.

*The Solar Plexus, or Power Chakra. This Chakra is located right above the navel and represents the element of Fire. This Chakra is responsible for will power and metabolism.

*Heart Chakra is situated right at the center of the chest. It is related to the ?Air? element, which governs our feelings of love, compassion, and general relationships.

*Throat Chakra is positioned at the bottom of the throat. It is associated to the ?Sound' feature, which administers our uniqueness, communication capability, and tone.

*Brow or The Third Eye Chakra located between the brows on the forehead and related to the element ?Light?. It governs perception, interpretation, imagination, and clear vision.

*The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head and represents the element "Thought". This is the Chakra which is responsible for wisdom, knowledge and our very consciousness.

Chakra Meditation seeks to achieve harmony amongst the seven chakras which gives the spiritual fulfillment. It helps to bring out the spiritual element of our material possessions.

Chakra Meditation ? The Process

Chakra Meditation, essentially, involves three steps or techniques.

*Grounding Technique. This technique helps you achieve the feeling of oneness with the earth. Just imagine that there is a root growing out of the base of your spine and entering the earth. This technique requires high degree of mental concentration.

*Centering Technique. This technique is vital as it prepares your body to receive the benefits of Chakra Meditation. Again, the application of this technique is not too difficult. Just take 4-5 deep breaths and feel every body part from head to toe getting relaxed. This process involves tightening and relaxing each body part from toe, and then visualizing the act of a potter who centers a pot on the pottery wheel.

*Relaxation Technique, which is the final step in Chakra Meditation. There is no hard and fast rule to relax your body. Everyone has his or her own method of relaxation.

Here is one of the most common methods of performing Chakra Meditation.

*Sit or lie down comfortably.

*Make sure your clothing is loose so that you are free of body tension and then shut your eyes.

*Breathe in a relaxed manner, which is neither too fast nor too slow. Let the breath come naturally!

*Just begin feeling each fraction of your body from toe to the head in that way. While you?re both eyes are closed, just feel the earth you are lying or sitting on, or the bed you are lying or sitting on, feel the atmosphere near around you, and feel the clothing you are wearing. Feel the whole lot you'd have had your both eyes been open. Now imagine the life in dark!

*Initially, your efforts will be met with stiff resistance from negative thoughts and emotions. Don?t suppress them! They?ll disappear with time and practice.

*Let you spirit roam in every part of your body. This is the feeling of completeness you?ve been yearning for.

Chakra Meditation can be performed by anyone at convenient hours. There is no rule for the duration of time to perform Chakra Meditation. Suit your comfort levels!
